The garden was dominated by a stagnant pond that had silted up over the previous few decades. Having seen a feature about swimming ponds in a magazine they thought it a wonderful opportunity to convert the existing pond into a natural swimming pond. Matt and Becky enjoyed entertaining and envisaged the swimming pond as a natural extension to their home.
The transition from inside to outside is via a partially enclosed 3x3m deck which overlooks the swimming pond and is designed for al-fresco dining. A board-walk then comes off the deck, leads to a small platform and then runs through the swimming pond to a “sun deck”. The swimming zone is just in excess of 90m2with the whole pond being a little under 200m2.
The planting will peak in late summer with many of the plants exceeding 1.5m in height which will give the swimmer a real feeling of seclusion.
